How to differentiate between Swine Flu with Normal Flu?

Last week my sons were down with fever and upset tummy. I was scared but was relieved when the symptoms were not of swine flu.

In the last 7 days, I gathered some important information which may be useful to some of you moms in differentiating between swine flu symptoms and normal flu symptoms.

If your child has

Severe cold/ cough or congestion of the Respiratory tract

And

very high fever, which does not come down, even with any anti pyretic / anti fever medicine/ cold sponge

AND / OR

Severe body ache / headache

Rush for swine flu test or best goto any govt hospital,   where Fluvir syrup will be given even without test.

OR

You can call Religare wellness . They will come to your house and take the samples for swine flu. They charge Rs 4500/- for swine flu test.

If the fever comes down by any medicine, then it’s a common flu.

In either case, reduce the exposure of your child to public place, lots of washing of the hands, buy new scrubber for dish washing, clean the floor with dettol, wipe the door knobs, handles, switches, phones, remotes with dettol atleast once week, will keep away the germs out of your house.
