Pawar Public School Pune, Hadapsar!

This has been a long over due article.   (Posted on Nov 2009)

Having visited it two weeks back, I finally get time to write about this school.

Earlier I have mentioned about this school based on a friend’s views as her daughter has been studying in that school since last two years. She is currently in 1st Std and is in same class as my older son who goes to St Mary’s Boys.

I could gather from her some good and some ok and some not so good views about the school.
So I thought of verifying it myself.

When I reached the school, I was impressed by the structure itself. It’s a huge school as comparable as ST Mary’s or Bishops.

The area where it’s located is also quite central, right opposite Magarpatta city, in another very beautiful township called Amanora Park, Hadapsar. It’s close to both Koregaon Park and Wanowarie.

I must tell you the place is a class and living there will automatically bring class. But no :(. On the contrary, the place is inhabited by neo rich or rich mostly business community .  So the kids who I found were thankfully not the types I would prefer to keep my kids away from, that is the super richie rich ones. But then there are kids more from hadapsar area who do not actually belong to the Amanora Park. That’s what my friend was unhappy about. She was wondering how and what her daughter will pick up from the kids from local small business class. But I have a different opinion here.
It’s not the classmates in the younger classes that matter, but the teachers make all the difference in the life at such a young mind.

I wanted to meet any teacher. I first met the lady the reception, who was very new , yet provided as much information. That made my job easier. As per her the Pawar Public School will start it’s admission in the first or second week of Nov 2009. So immediately after DPS forms, I think parents will have to rush and buy a form from PPS too.

The two teacher I heard talking were pretty good and were discussing about swine flu and how to cope with the unexpected holidays. Both were quite engrossed in their conversation and trust me had brilliant ideas. I liked their accent which is one thing that puts me off if it’s bad or fake. Like in Lexicon International.

I asked them if it was possible to get mid term admissions for a friend’s kids in 5th std. They were very genuine and replied that even though there was good number of seats vacant, I needed to speak to the admin.

I met the admin officer who was busy instructing a parent how to make a draft for the fee.
She mentioned that mid term admission was possible, provided the student presented the past school noc and reports.
Then I asked her if there were any donations.

She mentioned that there is no donation in their school ! That is really a relief.
The fee is around 31000/ per annum roughly, and the best part is it’s same for all the classes, up till 10th std.

The board they follow is ICSE, but when I compared the portions covered in 1std as compared to 1 std of St Mary’s (ICSE), PPS was way behind, or should I say ST Mary’s was way ahead. I think it’s better to go slow as the kids are very young and need not be burdened unless they show signs of coping up easily.

The school also had School Buses. I did not get any information about the routes but I did manage to get their site www.ppspune.com and phone number is

The age criteria and other details

Also the Nursery and Senior Kg runs in two batched.

The approach road to the school is pretty bumpy but that’s because the school is in the township which will take minimum 5 years more to develop completely.

It’s a good school and I would rank it at par with Bishops as PPS still does not have a good history. But it’s still very nascent school but will definitely grow to a big name looking at the amount of funds gone into its construction.
SO those who wish to enroll mid term, must try this school as its easy on pockets and process both.

Will write the tabular review soon with rating :).
