Kindness flows from you to your children

Compassion
Compassion

This is a long time back. My older son came back home from his school with no socks!

When I asked him about his socks, he very casually told me that one of the boys in his class had a hole in this socks, so he gave his own!

Then, I came to know that his class mates had to remove their shoes for a game and that’s when he saw his class mate’s torn socks.

But he did not stop there, he added to his explanation that he had done the same thing that he had seen me doing!

And that’s when I recollected the incidence at Pune’s busy Tilak Road where I had gone to foreclose my home loan with Citibank.

I was driving my Scorpio and my boys were sitting in the rear seat. While driving back after my work, I suddenly saw a lot of men turning their heads and staring at someone with big eyes and rather strange faces.

So, I stopped and was rather disgusted to see that a big girl, mostly from the nomad family was standing with only a skirt!

I just could not let everyone stare at her, where she seemed oblivious of the world, probably because she seemed mentally impaired.  So again, I found a place to park my huge vehicle. Asked my boys to stay inside and not open the door or come out. Unrolled the car windows and locked it. (I am a paranoid mom especially when I need to leave my kids alone in a car, so never leave the car ignition on)

I found the first garment shop, and bought 2  T Shirts. The shopkeeper gave 50% off knowing the reason, that I had to share with him as he was one of the guys staring. May be that was his way to show his remorse.

But, when I came out of the shop, the girl was not there. I ran up and down for 20 min asking every man around and then one of them pointed to a direction where she was standing.

After handing over the T Shirts, I ensured, she immediately wore one of them.

And without waiting for anyone to see the tears welling up my eyes, I ran to my Scorpio, where my little boys did see me. Since, they always sit in the back seat, I let my tears roll down while driving off  Tilak Road.

This was what had triggered the sense of kindness in my boys that made me teary once again!

After that incident, there have been many such acts of kindness in the family, that, makes me a very proud mom, thinking, compassion is the most important feeling we must have and my boys definitely have a lot of compassion.
