Madhurie,

My daughter goes to Nursery in "Your Kids R Our Kids" in Bangalore. They are mainly in pre-school and day care. website: http://www.ykrok.in They are opening their branch in Kalyani nagar, Pune, this year. We plan to move to Pune next year. My daughter who is 15 Nov 2005 born, would be completing her LKG next March. Few things are bothering me badly from past few days.

1. My daughter is 15 Nov 2005 born and has completed her Nursery this year. Is she in right age? According to some schools she is 15 days elder than the maximum age limit. Would schools defining such upper age limit deny admission to her? Is there relaxation on upper age limit or is it rigid?

2. What documents are required while seeking admission in UKG? Pawar public school website says that a transfer certificate duely signed by Education officer is required. What does this mean? Do schools give transfer certificate with such signatures? Or we will have to go personally and get this done?

3. Can you please let me know what is it that the child requires to know at the end of Nursery, LKG and UKG? For example, my understanding is that at the end of Nursery the child should know A to Z and 1 to 20.

4. Which board to choose - ICSE or CBSE? What is the difference?

I would be happy to have a call with you at your convinience. Please do reply as I am really worried.

Thank you in advance.

HI,

My daughter is 15 Nov 2005 born and is15 days to a month more than the upper age limit. This is worrying me a lot as I would prefer her to be the eldest in class rather than youngest. Would schools deny admission to such children who are a few days older than the upper age limit? Please let me know if someone has such problems.

Even if this has been said in all comments, I must say: you are putting very good efforts to help parents in Pune. All the best to you. Keep it doing… I have few questions for you…. Your guidance will be much appreciated… I will be shifting to Kondhwa area soon. My son will be 4 yrs 6 months on 1 June 2010 (Birth date 20/11/2005). I was planning to put him Bishops Camp, but came to know that, my son is just 1 month older so can't be admitted to LKG(3.6 to 4.5). What shall I do now? Will they consider the exception if I meet them personally? I am not too much inclined towards ICSE but since Bishops is a good school I was looking towards it. Please suggest me some good CBSE / ICSE schools near Kondhwa and Camp. Thanks in advance for your help…

BY A.M.F.

Hi A.M.F.

I do not know if you have applied for DPS or not? That's the best near Kondwa. Nevertheless, Yes meeting personally with Mr Freeze, the Bishops' Principal will make a difference. But I am told that you will have to shell out Rs 1lac to get an admission. If you have missed the bus and cannot wait, you will have to compensate for the accommodation :). So Hope you get to meet and get your son admitted too.

Else there are many other schools that are starting their admissions now. The ticker on my site will be displaying the admission dates of a few.

Hutchings will be opening too in December first week. Tk care

Thanks for your quick reply.

Actually, my kid was in Bhopal with her mother because her mother was taking MEd. exams and in the bargain we lost out on a lot of admissions. So how do we convince any school management of being a transfer case since we are to admit her fisrt time in LKG. The kid wasnt in any preschool or nursery in Bhopal since her mother was a teacher herself and the child is self trained. Any chances that schools will consider my daughter in this case? What documentation if any is needed for a transfer case. ?

Any international Schools around Vishrantwadi / Vimanagar ?

Does Army Public School, Kirkee have LKG ?

Gosh, am I sounding too complicated !!

Thanks, do reply if you have time.

Hi Madhurie,

Saw your very informative blog. Just wanted to query you about admissions for my daughter who will be 4 years June 10. I will be moving from Bhopal in March to Pune. However, all major state board schools have finished their admission process. We would be staying in Vishrantwadi area. I and my wife are losing a lot of sleep, regarding admission of my daughter to a reasonable school in this area or in the range of 8 kms (without being too harsh on my daughter !). Education Board is not a consideration, though my wife is keen to go for CBSE board, since she is in a private transferrable job profile. ICSE is second priority, followed by our Maharashtra board.

Though, I am doing my own research, can you guide, advice about any schools that I can approach in the first week of March for LKG admissions for my daughter. I have already missed out on the good schools, but can I hope to get my daughter admitted to a reasonable school.

Hope you can reply. Thanks.
